2007 Winners

The people honored on this page brought libertarian ideas to thousands of people in 2007. The 2007 Lights of Liberty awards were given by the Advocates for Self-Government to libertarians who accomplished any one of these three vital outreach activities: (see program description for details)

  • 3 or more published letters to the editor
  • 3 or more speeches
  • 3 or more Operation Politically Homeless (OPH) booths

Four of the winners below -- Julie Chorgo, Michael Gilson De Lemos,  James W. Lark, III , and Ralph Swanson went far beyond the minimum requirement for the awards, winning what has been dubbed the "Libertarian Triathlon" -- winning awards in all three categories.

Lights of Liberty letter writers reached millions of Americans via newspapers across the country. Lights of Liberty speakers took libertarian ideas to service clubs, classrooms, political rallies, televised debates, and more. Operation Politically Homeless booth activists met thousands of people one-on-one, introducing them to libertarian ideas at fairs, political rallies, flea markets, gun shows, and other events.

We hope to see YOUR name on the list of 2008 winners!

Congratulations to all of these outstanding activists!
