Mojo NixonFrom the Liberator Online, May 29, 2001:

Cult rock star Mojo Nixon has joined the Libertarian Party, saying it is the only political party that believes in "treating adults like adults."

Nixon, 44, joined the party at the Ohio Libertarian Party's convention in Columbus on April 21, after giving a speech and performing several songs to a crowd of about 150 people.

In his speech at the convention, Nixon said, "I want the government out of my face," and demanded that the government treat "adults like adults."

During his two-decade career Nixon has issued 12 albums, appeared in five movies, debated Pat Buchanan on CNN, guest-hosted on MTV, and toured the nation. He is renowned for his satirical and humorous songs and wild, eccentric brand of rock 'n' roll. Rolling Stone magazine has praised Nixon's "crusading commitment to raw, stripped down rock 'n' roll" and proclaimed him "a bracing tonic in these bland and kingless times."

Nixon may be most famous for his hits "Elvis Is Everywhere" (1987) and "Debbie Gibson is Pregnant With My Two-Headed Love Child" (1989), as well as his 1987 anti-Drug War anthem, "I Ain't Gonna P*ss In No Jar."

Interestingly, Nixon has a degree in Political Science and History from Miami University (1979).
